Light filters through the window shade. We rub our eyes as day breaks and, if only for a moment, allow an honest look at ourselves in the proverbial mirror.
I've never been a huge fan of selective colorization in photographs, but I do appreciate when it's done effectively and for the purpose of increasing impact and drawing the viewer's eye to an important detail. Pay attention to some really good portraits and you'll see catchlights in the eyes. If the eyes are really, really sharp you'll see all sorts of things reflected in them, usually windows or artificial lights, but sometimes the photographer or other interesting surroundings.
More details to come.
