A story to get by
After having her Nuk taken away by the evil Mom and Dad and after a good 40 minutes of crying, Margo has a visitor--her brother--come to ease her mind with a book.

Chalk
We've had the best weather this week, and the kids have been outside every night...and have gotten to stay up a little later than normal. It's what summer is all about, and our kids are living it. Margo (out of frame) gravitates toward blowing bubbles and riding her bike. Miles likes to spell words and draw roads. Em and I just enjoy the sight of two happy kids playing on a warm summer evening.

Harmony of color
The items above unrelated, other than the fact that they all contributed to a larger picture that I think is kinda pretty. It reminds me of a conversation I had just last night, when a friend and I talked about how different our once-tightly-knit group of high school buddies has become. It's a natural progression and one that none of us could have predicted back then. Still, this photo reminds me that while our paths may cross less frequently, each of our "colors" is still visible and can still blend quite nicely. And isn't that the way it should be for all of us?

Simplicity Of Basic Needs
Even a cry is miracle, as it brings with it the energy of new life, innocence and hope. Every hair on a tender head, every squint of the eye, every wave of the arm, every kick of the legs, every squeeze of the fingers, and every curling of tiny toes... Each reminds one so lucky to witness those things there is a beauty in the simplicity of basic needs like nourishment, warmth and love. How amazing it is for a newborn to find comfort in these things. How amazing it would be if we who are grown would find comfort not only in receiving them, but giving them, too.
