Miles is a noisy boy, which I can only hope is an indication that he'll be a singer like daddy. I am, however, going to have to teach him volume control if he has any chance of singing in a choir. But as much as his screeching pierces my eardrums, I can appreciate his effort. Here is Miles yawning after dinner at a wedding we attended a few weeks ago in St. Paul.
Noise in the photography sense is something I'm learning to appreciate, too, as my camera becomes more and more a part of the things I carry with me everywhere, like my keys, wallet and mobile phone. Dark surroundings call for higher ISO speeds, which translate to more digital noise. But who cares...I'd rather have something a little grainy than blurry.
I'm still very much an amateur photographer--a hobbyist at best--but if there's one thing I have learned it's that great pictures don't happen if you don't have your camera with you--out and ready to shoot. I've resorted to bringing my camera with me most places I go, and I've learned to ignore sigh's of "I hate how I look in pictures!" I feel pretty comfortable with my camera now...enough so that I can make it blend in to most settings and snap a few shots here and there without drawing too much attention to me or the camera.

I totally get self conscious about camera noise. I used to be afraid of what people would think about me when I'd whip out my camera. Now I don't care ;) We know it has to be done.
